Louise Delaigue is an ocean biogeochemist specialising in the marine carbon cycle. She integrates and tests new sensors on autonomous observing platforms (e.g., BGC-Argo floats) and combines these data with global datasets (e.g., SOCAT, GLODAP) and machine learning to study how the ocean regulates climate through carbon exchange. A sea-going scientist, she works at the interface of technology and biogeochemistry to improve understanding of ocean carbon cycling on a global scale. In TRICUSO, Louise will first test prototype BGC-Argo floats equipped with acoustic sensors in the Mediterranean Sea, before deploying advanced versions carrying both acoustic and Lab-on-a-Chip sensors during Southern Ocean expeditions. As co-lead of Work Package 3, she will coordinate observing system simulation experiments (OSSEs) to evaluate how these new data streams improve estimates of air–sea CO2 fluxes.
